Exchange Migration
Migrate from Exchange Server (2010, 2013, 2016, 2019) to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace with complete data fidelity and zero downtime.
What is Exchange Migration?
Exchange Migration is the process of moving mailbox data from Microsoft Exchange Server (on-premises or hosted) to a cloud platform like Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) or Google Workspace. This includes emails, calendars, contacts, tasks, and other mailbox content.
Cloudiway's Exchange Migration Tool supports all versions of Exchange Server 2010, 2013, 2016, and 2019, as well as Exchange Online. The platform uses modern authentication (OAuth 2.0) and provides zero-downtime migration with delta synchronization technology.

Exchange Migration FAQ
Common questions about Exchange migration
01 What versions of Exchange are supported?
Cloudiway supports migration from Exchange Server 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, and Exchange Online. Both on-premises and hybrid Exchange configurations are fully supported.
02 What data is migrated from Exchange?
Cloudiway migrates emails, calendars, contacts, tasks, notes, inbox rules, folder structures, shared mailboxes, resource mailboxes (rooms and equipment), distribution lists, public folders, and archives. All metadata including dates, read status, and flags are preserved.
03 Can users continue working during Exchange migration?
Yes. Cloudiway uses delta synchronization technology that allows users to continue working in Exchange throughout the migration. Multiple sync passes capture all changes, and the final cutover is seamless with zero downtime.
04 How are permissions handled during migration?
Cloudiway automatically maps and recreates permissions in the destination. This includes mailbox delegation, folder sharing, send-as permissions, send-on-behalf permissions, and calendar sharing. User mapping rules can be customized.
05 What about shared mailboxes and distribution lists?
Shared mailboxes are fully supported including all permissions and delegation settings. Distribution lists, security groups, and mail-enabled groups are migrated with membership intact. Resource mailboxes for rooms and equipment are handled automatically.
06 How long does Exchange migration take?
Migration duration depends on data volume and number of mailboxes. With parallel processing, Cloudiway can migrate thousands of mailboxes simultaneously. A typical 50GB mailbox completes in 4-8 hours. Delta sync ensures minimal cutover time.
07 Is Exchange migration secure?
Yes. Cloudiway uses secure authentication (OAuth 2.0 or service account), encrypts all data in transit with TLS, and is compliant with GDPR, SOC 2, and HIPAA. No email content is stored on Cloudiway servers.
08 Can you migrate to Google Workspace from Exchange?
Yes. Cloudiway supports migration from Exchange to Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Contacts). The migration preserves all data with appropriate mapping between Exchange and Google data structures.
09 What about public folders?
Public folder migration is supported. Content can be migrated to Exchange Online public folders, SharePoint, or Microsoft 365 Groups depending on your target architecture and requirements.
10 Can I migrate Exchange Server to Office 365?
Yes. Office 365 is the former name for Microsoft 365 — the platform is the same. Cloudiway migrates Exchange Server (2010, 2013, 2016, 2019) to Microsoft 365/Office 365 with full fidelity. Whether your organization refers to it as Office 365 or Microsoft 365, the migration process is identical.
11 Do you provide migration support?
Yes. Cloudiway offers professional services including migration assessment, planning, pilot execution, and 24x5 support during production migrations. Our experts have extensive Exchange migration experience.
12 Does the Exchange migration tool work in hybrid Exchange environments?
Yes. Cloudiway handles hybrid scenarios where some mailboxes still live on-premises while others are already in Exchange Online. The migration walks the hybrid coexistence to migrate on-premises mailboxes directly to the target Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace tenant, without requiring an intermediate move to Exchange Online first.
